Finally, they arrived at the palace and were taken to the princess. Upon seeing him, she immediately fell head over heels in love, and they were wed in the palace chapel. Then, a grand feast was held in honor of the newlyweds. Tom Thumb sat next to his giantess wife. The poor groom was so hungry after the long journey that he was nearly starving: he ate everything on his plate. But then it came time for the sweet banana pudding. Tom decided to start eating from the middle, where the delicious blackberry candies were. Climbing onto the plate, he boldly stepped onto the middle of the dish and suddenly felt himself sinking, as if in a swamp. No matter how much he shouted, no one could hear his tiny voice.
