The Crystal Bridge
Once upon a time, there lived a husband and wife. One day, while cleaning the stable, they found a silver coin."What shall we do with it?" asked the husband.
"Let's go to the fair tomorrow and buy a hen," replied the wife.
The next morning, they went to the fair and bought a hen. The hen laid many eggs for them, which they successfully sold at the market, and they lived comfortably on the money they earned.
After some time, while cleaning the stable again, they found another coin.
"What shall we do with it now?" asked the husband.
"Let's go to the fair and buy a rooster," answered the wife.
They went to town and bought a rooster. The hen and the rooster raised chicks, and by selling them, the husband and wife lived even better than before.
A little time passed, and once again, a coin was found in the stable, which they used to buy a goat. The goat gave them plenty of delicious milk, and by selling it, they became even wealthier. A few days later, they found a golden coin and bought a billy goat with it. When the goat and the billy goat had kids, the husband and wife sold them profitably and further filled their savings. Some time later, another coin was discovered in the stable, and the husband and wife got a cow. The cow gave them a lot of milk, and the wife churned fragrant butter from it, which she sold at the market. With the next coin they found, they bought a bull, and soon they had calves.
One day, while cleaning the stable, the wife found another coin and bought a big fluffy cat. The cat immediately caught all the mice in the house that had been damaging their belongings, and the husband and wife couldn't be happier with him.
When they found yet another coin, they began to think about what else they could buy.
"Now we are rich enough," said the wife. "Let's build a crystal bridge."
They built the bridge, but before stepping on it, they decided to test its strength. First, they sent the hen across the bridge. She walked back and forth—the bridge didn't crack.
The husband and wife sent the rooster across the bridge. The rooster ran across—the bridge remained intact.
Then the goat, the billy goat, the cow, and the bull walked across the bridge. The bridge stood firm. It was the cat's turn to stroll across the bridge. Before the cat could reach the middle, the bridge creaked and collapsed.
So, who was the strongest of all? The cat! And why? Because he drank a lot of milk!
