The Tale of the Father, Mother, and Daughter

Once upon a time, there lived a man who had a wife and a daughter. One day, he said to them, "Let's go to the vineyard and eat some grapes."

So they went to the vineyard. The owner began to devour the grapes by the handful, while the wife and daughter ate slowly, one berry at a time.

After eating his fill, the owner shouted:

"Quickly, quickly, it's time to go home!"

"No, we want more grapes."

"Quickly, quickly, it's time to go home!"

"No, we want more grapes."

Then the owner left alone and said to his dog:

"Dog, go bite my wife and daughter."

"Master, I don't want to bite your wife and daughter."

Then the owner took a stick to beat the dog. But the stick said:

"Master, I don't want to beat the dog."

Then the owner threw the stick into the fire. But the fire said:

"Master, I don't want to burn the stick."

Then the owner said to the water:

"Water, put out the fire."

But the water replied:

"Master, I don't want to put out the fire."

Then the owner said to his oxen:

"Oxen, drink the water."

But the oxen replied:

"Master, we don't want to drink the water."

Then the owner took a yoke to harness the oxen. But the yoke said:

"Master, I don't want to harness your oxen."

Then the owner said to the rat:

"Rat, gnaw the yoke."

But the rat replied:

"Master, I don't want to gnaw the yoke."

Then the owner said to the cat:

"Cat, eat the rat."

And the cat wanted to eat the rat.

The rat wanted to gnaw the yoke.

The yoke wanted to harness the oxen.

The oxen wanted to drink the water.

The water wanted to put out the fire.

The fire wanted to burn the stick.

The stick wanted to beat the dog.

The dog wanted to bite the mother and daughter.
