Not My Business!
There lived a peasant in our village. He was such an unusual man that if you told him, "Your neighbor's house is on fire," he would reply:— What does that have to do with me? Even the heavens don't care about other people's affairs! It's none of my business.
And so, he was nicknamed in the village: Not-My-Business.
One day, Not-My-Business bought a sack of soybeans in the city. He hoisted it onto his shoulder and carried it home... But he didn't notice that there was a hole in the sack. So, as he walked, the beans spilled out one by one onto the ground. Soon, a neighbor who was also returning from the market caught up with him. The neighbor saw the beans spilling out of the sack and asked Not-My-Business:
— If something bad happens to someone else, should you tell them or not?
— Other people's affairs are nobody's concern, — grumbled Not-My-Business.
The neighbor fell silent.
They walked a little further. The beans kept spilling and spilling. The sack was half empty. The neighbor asked again:
— Well, what if you can help someone else in trouble, then what?
— Nothing! — replied Not-My-Business. — What's in it for you? Never meddle in other people's affairs.
They reached the village. Only then did Not-My-Business notice that almost all the beans had spilled out of the sack. He became very angry.
— Why didn't you say anything, you turtle's son? The neighbor replied:
— But you, Not-My-Business, told me yourself that it's none of my business!
