Anana
Once upon a time, or perhaps not, there lived a prince. The prince had a garden, and in the garden, there were two beds. On one bed grew leeks, and on the other, dill. The prince would neither eat nor drink until he had spent some time sitting by his garden beds. One day, as the prince was walking along his garden beds, he noticed a piece of paper lying on the ground. He picked it up and saw that something was written on it, but he couldn't read what it said. He handed it to someone, and suddenly the paper came to life and turned into a girl. She was such a beauty, the most beautiful girl in the world.
When the prince saw her, he wanted to marry her. He asked:
"What is your lineage?"
"My name is Leek, my belt is Dill, I am a simple girl," she replied.
The prince left. "You are not of noble birth," he said, turning away from the girl—her name was Anana—and he married someone else. But Anana loved the prince, loved him so much that it was killing her.
Anana brought deer from the mountains, milked them, poured the milk into a cauldron, and sat in it. The milk boiled, and Anana bathed in it.
The prince saw Anana in the boiling milk and said to his wife:
"Look, our Anana brought deer from the mountains, milked them, and poured the milk into a cauldron. The milk is boiling, and Anana is bathing in it."
His wife replied:
"Can I not do the same?"
So the prince's wife called cows from the mountains, milked them, boiled the milk, sat in the cauldron, and was cooked to death.
The prince became a widower.
He went to Anana and asked:
"What is your lineage?"
And she replied the same as before:
"My name is Leek, my belt is Dill, I am a simple girl."
"You are not of noble birth," said the prince, and he married someone else.
Anana went and climbed high up a mountain. She sat down to spin silk, dropped her spindle, cut off her nose, and threw it down.
"Come on, little nose, bring me the spindle!"
The nose brought the spindle and returned to its place. The prince saw this, went to his wife, and said:
"Our Anana has amazed me. She climbed high up a mountain, sat down to spin silk, and dropped her spindle. Then she cut off her nose, threw it down, and said, 'Come on, little nose, bring me the spindle!' The nose brought the spindle and returned to its place."
"What's so amazing about that?" said the wife. "I can do that too."
She climbed onto the roof, took a spindle, and began to spin. She dropped the spindle, cut off her nose, and threw it down. The nose did not bring the spindle, and she bled to death.
Once again, the prince became a widower. He went to Anana and asked:
"What is your lineage?"
"My name is Leek, my belt is Dill, I am a simple girl," said Anana.
The prince left, went to the mountains, found a swineherd, bought a pig, and said, "The meat is for you, the blood is for me." He ordered the pig to be slaughtered, then commanded:
"Cover me entirely in blood, take me, and lay me beside Anana."
They slaughtered the pig, covered the prince in blood, carried him to Anana, and left him there. Anana saw the bloodied prince and cried out:
"Sun—my mother, Moon—my father,
Stars—my brothers in the blue sky,
Lower my bench,
For my dear prince has died."
As soon as she said this, the sky opened, and a golden bench descended.
The prince stood up, embraced Anana, and began to kiss and caress her.
They celebrated their wedding and lived happily ever after.
