The Thick, Fat Pancake
Once upon a time, there were three old women, and one day they decided to treat themselves to some pancakes. The first old woman brought an egg, the second brought milk, and the third brought flour and butter. And when the thick, greasy, fatty pancake was ready, it suddenly stretched out on the frying pan, hung over the edge, and ran away from the old women! Quickly, quickly, it rolled straight into the forest. And along came a little hare:"Hey, you thick, greasy pancake, stop! I'm going to eat you!"
The pancake replied:
"I just ran away from three old women. Do you really think I won't run away from you, Hopping Hare?" And it rolled on.
Next, a wolf came rushing toward it, growling:
"Hey, you thick, greasy pancake, stop! I'm going to eat you!"
The pancake replied:
"I ran away from three old women and from Hopping Hare! Do you really think I won't run away from you, Wandering Wolf?" And it rolled on.
Then a goat came along, bleating:
"Thick, greasy pancake, stop! I'm going to eat you!"
The pancake laughed:
"I ran away from the old women, from Hopping Hare, and from Wandering Wolf. Do you really think I won't get away from you, Bearded Goat?" And it quickly rolled on through the forest.
Next, a horse ran onto the path and neighed:
"Thick, greasy pancake, stop! I'm going to eat you!"
The pancake replied:
"I ran away from three old women, from Hopping Hare, from Wandering Wolf, and from Bearded Goat. Do you really think I won't run away from you, Stomping Horse?" And it rolled on.
Then a wild boar came along, squealing:
"Don't move, you thick, greasy pancake! I want to eat you!"
The pancake replied:
"Ah, I ran away from three old women, from Hopping Hare, from Wandering Wolf, from Bearded Goat, and from Stomping Horse. Do you really think I won't run away from you, Grunting Boar?" And it rolled on through the forest.
Finally, it came across three children. They had no mother or father. And the children said:
"Dear pancake, please stop! We haven't had a single crumb to eat all day!"
And then the thick, greasy pancake jumped into the children's bag all by itself and let them eat it...
