Once upon a time, Păcală hired himself to serve a nobleman. The nobleman saw that he was no fool and called him over, asking:

- Faithful Păcală, tell me honestly, are you an honest man?

- Honest, your honor, you’d have to search far and wide to find another like me!

- Good, my son. And if, for example, you happened to find my purse—what would you do?

- What can I say, brother? We’ll share it like noblemen.
