Pekală and Tindală
Once, Pekale was carrying a sack of nutshells and shouting, "Hey, here are some nuts!"And towards him walked Tyndale, also with a sack on his back. In his sack was swamp grass, but he was shouting,
"Hey, here is silk!"
They met, and Pekale, of course, spoke first:
"Listen, brother, won't you trade your sack for mine?"
Tyndale thought and thought, scratched the back of his head, decided it was a good deal, and agreed. In a moment, they settled the matter and went their separate ways—one this way, the other that way.
And you should have seen how delighted they were when they looked into their sacks and saw their loot!
"Oh, what a cunning man!" said one.
"What a fool that passerby is!" said the other.
And then, whether the earth ended or for some other reason, as it should have been, Pekale met Tyndale again.
"Hello, brother!" shouted Tyndale. "Tell me, what's your name? We really suit each other!"
"They call me Pekale," he replied, laughing. "And what's your name?"
"I'm Tyndale."
And so they got to know each other, became friends, and even swore brotherhood.
