The Sun, Frost, and Wind

A passerby was walking along, saw three people by the roadside, and said to them:

- Good day! - and continued on his way.

Those three began to argue among themselves about whom he had greeted. They caught up to him and asked:

- Which one of us did you wish a good day to?
He replied:
- And who are you, exactly?
One of them said:
- I am the Sun.
Another said:
- I am the Frost.

And the third:
- And I, - he said, - am the Wind!
- Well, then it was the Wind I greeted.

Then the Sun said to the man:
- I will scorch you during the harvest.
But the Wind said:
- Don’t be afraid, I’ll blow cool air during the heat.
And the Frost boasted:
- And I will freeze you in winter.
- But if you, Frost, start freezing, I won’t blow—then the man won’t freeze.
