The Power of Habit
The man had a habit of visiting his mistress every evening for twenty years, spending time there in conversation and playing cards. And so, when his lawful wife passed away, his acquaintances and relatives advised him:"We all know about you. It would be better if you married her and brought her into your home. Remember the wise words of our ancestors: 'There is no evil without good.'"
The man disagreed with his relatives and acquaintances.
"No, no, that will not happen. How can I part with my twenty-year habit? If I bring her into my home, where will I go in the evenings, where will I spend my time, with whom will I converse, to whom will I tell my sorrows?"
