The Lion and the Wolf

A horse was walking through the meadow.

A lion approaches.
"Follow me!" the lion commanded.

"And why should I?" asked the horse.

"How dare you speak to me like that?" the lion roared fiercely. "Don’t you know who I am? I am the king of beasts. I am hungry, and I want to eat you."

"Eh," said the horse, "times have changed. It’s not like whoever pushes whom down gets to rule."

"You dare to think I’m weaker than you?"

"I’m sure of it," said the horse.

"Let’s test our strength. There’s a stone lying in the meadow."

"Come here," said the horse. They approached the stone.

"Can you strike this stone so hard that sparks fly from it?"

The lion swiped at the stone with his paw—and broke his claws.

"Eh, lion, lion! And you call yourself the king of beasts. Watch how I strike."

The horse had steel horseshoes on his hooves. He struck the stone with his hoof—and sparks flew everywhere.

The lion got scared and bolted back into the forest. He ran, glancing over his shoulder.

"Where are you running, lion?" asked the wolf.

The lion told the wolf about the terrifying beast he had encountered.

"And you were afraid of it?" asked the wolf. "Eh, if I ran into him, I’d handle him quickly. Just show him to me."

The lion picked up the wolf in his front paws and stood on his hind legs.

"Look!"

The lion thought he was holding the wolf gently, but the wolf’s bones cracked, and his spirit left him.

"Well, do you see? The wolf isn’t answering."

"Why are you silent?"

The lion lowered the wolf to the ground and saw that the wolf wasn’t breathing.

"Eh, you braggart: you just saw him and already fainted. And I actually tested my strength against him!"

The lion tossed the wolf aside and ran off further. Fairy girl
