The Wolf and the She-Wolf
Once upon a time, a she-wolf was talking to a wolf."It's not easy for you, wolf," sighed the she-wolf.
"Why do you say that?" the wolf looked at her.
"Well, you're always wandering around the bushes, hiding from people."
"Hmm," grumbled the wolf, "but you also hide from people..."
"No, I go wherever I want, and no one sees me."
"Now, that's a lie, my dear!" the wolf disagreed. "They see you just as much as they see me!"
"Well," replied the she-wolf, "believe it or not, I'm telling the truth!"
The wolf shook his head and said:
"If that's the case, let's test it. I'll hide in the bushes, and you go out into the field. We'll see if people notice you or not."
"Alright," agreed the she-wolf, "let's see!"
The wolf hid in the bushes, and the she-wolf went out into the field. The plowmen saw her and started shouting:
"Wolf, wolf!.. Kill the wolf!"
The wolf, hearing from the bushes that they were talking about him, trembled with fear and ran off into the forest. As he ran, he thought:
"Strange: the she-wolf went out into the field and nothing happened, but I was hiding in the bushes, and they saw me."
The she-wolf caught up with him and asked:
"Well, who was right?"
The wolf caught his breath and said:
"You were right. No doubt about it. If I hadn't tested it, I would never have believed it."
