The Mountain of the Sun

Long, long ago, there lived two brothers, an elder and a younger one. The elder brother was stingy and greedy, and he couldn't wait to take possession of their father's entire inheritance. When their father passed away, the elder brother decided to resort to trickery. One evening, he said to his younger brother:
- Younger brother, it's time for us to divide our father's inheritance. Let's wake up early tomorrow and go plow the fields. Whoever plows more will get everything. But remember, we must not eat anything in the morning.

The younger brother always obeyed his elder sibling, and he agreed this time as well.

The next morning, the elder brother woke up very early. His wife prepared breakfast for him, and he ate his fill. Then he woke up his younger brother:
- Well, I'm up. Let's go plow.

They went out to the field and began plowing.

The elder brother worked quickly. The younger brother, who was hungry, struggled to keep up with him.

And so it happened that all the property went to the elder brother, while the younger one was left with nothing.

The younger brother had no choice but to go to the mountains. He settled in a cave, chopped firewood, sold it, and barely managed to earn enough to survive.

One day, he went into the forest to gather firewood. Suddenly, he noticed a large magpie's nest in a tree. He picked up a stick and began to knock it down. Just then, a magpie flew out of the nest and pleaded:
- Don't destroy my nest! In return, I will lead you to the Mountain of the Sun, where you can find treasures.
- What treasures? - the younger brother asked skeptically.
- Come here early tomorrow, before sunrise, and bring a small bag with you. Then I'll show you what treasures are there.

The next day, at dawn, the younger brother took a small bag with him and followed the magpie to the Mountain of the Sun.

When they reached the very top of the mountain, the younger brother couldn't believe his eyes: before him lay heaps of gold, pearls, and various precious stones. He filled his small bag with treasures, thanked the magpie, and returned home.

Soon after, he left his cave, built a fine house, and began to live comfortably.

When the elder brother learned how the younger one had become rich, he grew envious. He grabbed a stick, ran into the forest, and started knocking down the magpie's nest. Once again, the magpie flew out and promised to lead the elder brother to the Mountain of the Sun.

- But remember to bring a small bag, no bigger than what you'd use for a single measure of rice, - she instructed him.

The elder brother thought to himself that such a small bag would be too little for him. He returned home and ordered his wife to sew a bag out of the largest bedsheet they had.

The next day, at dawn, the elder brother set off after the magpie to the Mountain of the Sun. When he saw the piles of gold, pearls, and precious stones, he forgot about everything else and began frantically filling his enormous bag. But the bag was too large, and the elder brother took so long to fill it that the first rays of the sun began to appear in the sky.
- Hurry, run! - the magpie cried out, - or the sun will rise and burn you!

But the elder brother didn't listen - he wanted to take as many treasures as he could. No matter how much the magpie urged him, he kept stuffing his bag with more and more riches. And when the sun rose, it saw a greedy man looting the mountain and burned him with its rays.

Old folks say that this is how it always happens: the sun never harms the poor, warming them and sharing a bit of its golden light. But if a greedy rich man tries to seize everything for himself, the angry sun will burn him with its rays. Fairy girl
